City of Angels · Jasmine Benjamin

About

City of Angels is a 160-page photographic portrait of Los Angeles street style by Jasmine Benjamin, built from more than 120 subjects shot across the city.

The book

City of Angels runs to 160 pages and more than 120 subjects, most of them L.A. natives. It is a book about how the city actually dresses, gathered a long way from the Hollywood version of Los Angeles, and it works as both a fashion document and a record of a particular moment in the city.

Jasmine Benjamin is a photographer and stylist whose work with musicians shaped the way the book was made. She went out to neighbourhoods across Los Angeles and photographed people in their own clothes, where they live and where they work, rather than dressing anyone for the camera.

Since publication the book has been covered by Vogue, GQ, LA Times, Complex, and awarded the 2026 Booktique Award for Best Lifestyle Book. It has launched in Los Angeles, New York, London and Osaka.
